The Dominican Republic

The Dominican Republic is the eastern two-thirds of the island of Hispanola, first discovered by Christopher Columbus in 1492. It is the second largest island in the Caribbean. Its great ecological diversity encompasses an area of more than 48,000 square kilometres including 1,368 kilometres of coastline. A destination with many facets, it is fabulous for nature lovers, with forests, mangroves, rivers, beaches, natural springs and waterfalls laden with exotic flora and fauna. The combination of its geographic location and historical trade-route links has led to a rich culture among its 9.2 million inhabitants. Cana Bay is located at the easternmost tip of the Dominican Republic in the island’s most exclusive area, Punta Cana.
